Embracing Polarity for Energetic Health

Hello beautiful souls,

Today, let’s dive into the fascinating world of polarity within our bodies and why it’s so crucial for our energetic health. At Prittie Yoga, we often explore how our energy systems interact and balance each other, and understanding polarity is a key part of this journey.

What is Polarity?

Polarity refers to the positive and negative charges that exist within our energy fields. Just like a magnet, our bodies have poles that attract and repel energy. This dynamic interaction is essential for maintaining balance and harmony within our energetic systems.

Humans as Electrical Beings

Humans are electrical beings. Our bodies generate electrical currents that are vital for various physiological functions. The heart is the largest source of electrical energy in the body, producing powerful electrical impulses that regulate our heartbeat and ensure blood circulation.

At the atomic level, our bodies are composed of atoms, which consist of electrons, protons, and neutrons. Electrons have a negative charge, protons have a positive charge, and neutrons have zero charge. Each cell in our body contains approximately 100 trillion atoms, creating a complex and dynamic system of electrical interactions.

The Yin and Yang of Our Bodies

In traditional Chinese medicine, this concept is beautifully illustrated through the principles of Yin and Yang. Yin represents the feminine, passive, and nurturing energies, while Yang embodies the masculine, active, and dynamic forces. Both are necessary and must be in balance for optimal health. When these energies are out of sync, we may experience physical, emotional, or spiritual imbalances.

How Polarity Affects Our Health

  1. Energy Flow: Polarity ensures that energy flows smoothly through our meridians and chakras. When the positive and negative charges are balanced, our energy pathways are clear, allowing for better circulation of life force energy, or Qi.

  2. Emotional Balance: Our emotions are deeply connected to our energetic state. Balanced polarity helps stabilize our moods and emotions, reducing stress and promoting a sense of well-being.

  3. Physical Health: Energetic imbalances can manifest as physical ailments. By maintaining polarity, we support our body’s natural healing processes, enhancing our overall health and vitality.

Understanding Cell Polarity

Cell polarity refers to the spatial differences in the shape, structure, and function of cells. This polarity is crucial for various cellular processes, including cell division, differentiation, and the maintenance of tissue architecture. In the context of health, cell polarity ensures that cells function correctly and maintain their proper orientation within tissues.

Cell Polarity in Development and Cancer

According to Andreas Wodarz and Inke Näthke in their article “Cell polarity in development and cancer” published in Nature Cell Biology, the development of cancer is a multistep process where the DNA of a single cell accumulates mutations in genes that control essential cellular processes. Loss of cell–cell adhesion and cell polarity is commonly observed in advanced tumors and correlates well with their invasion into adjacent tissues and the formation of metastases. Growing evidence indicates that loss of cell–cell adhesion and cell polarity may also be important in early stages of cancer. Studies on tumor suppressor genes in the fruitfly Drosophila melanogaster have revealed their importance in the control of apical–basal cell polarity.

Practices to Balance Polarity

At Prittie Yoga, we incorporate several practices to help balance polarity:

  • Mindful Hatha Yoga: Gentle movements and postures that align and balance our energy centers.

  • Energy Medicine Yoga®: Techniques that specifically target the energetic systems, helping to clear blockages and restore balance.

  • Self-Massage and Meridian Tapping: Simple yet powerful methods to stimulate energy flow and harmonize polarity.

  • Reiki: By regulating the flow of energy between your chakras which impacts your other 8 energy systems.

  • Resilo: By releasing congestion in your fascia, the sheath of stringy connective tissue that surrounds every part of your body by providing support to your muscles, tendons, ligaments, tissues, organs, nerves, joints and bones, you become healthier, more flexible, reduces inflamation and restores the natural energy flows your body was born with.

Embrace Your Inner Balance

Understanding and embracing polarity is a journey of self-discovery and healing. By tuning into our body’s energetic needs, we can create a harmonious balance that supports our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Remember, your body is always communicating with you. Listen to it, nurture it, and allow the dance of polarity to bring you into a state of vibrant health.

Join me on the mat to explore these practices and more. Let’s balance our energies and thrive together!

With love and light, Emily
